Ranfurly Shield Challenge Update
The Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Football Union is delighted that their Ranfurly Shield Challenge against Waikato, has been confirmed for Wednesday 17th July 2013, with the match to kick off at 2.30pm in Morrinsville. The Log o’ Wood was first played for in 1904 and Chief Executive Officer of the HKRFU Corey Kennett, said “a Shield challenge will be the ultimate game for many of our players. Ranfurly Shield challenges are normally the highlight of any player’s rugby career”. With the prestige and history of the Ranfurly Shield throughout New Zealand, Corey Kennett said “this is not only good for promoting our region but attracting and developing the younger generation to the game of rugby. We hope that the excitement of a Shield Challenge will see the local communities get behind not only our Union and its team, but also the small host town of Morrinsville”.
The Union is investigating options for supporters to travel to the Waikato to support our team and Clubs will be advised when details are available.
