Chris Wilton has been reappointed as the Horowhenua Kapiti Heartland Head Coach for a further two seasons.

Wilton had some strong competition for the role, with 15 applicants, many of whom were based overseas and willing to relocate. The interview panel see Wilton’s record over the past four years and passion for the rugby in Horowhenua Kapiti as a key factor in the team’s success.

Wilton couldn’t be prouder to lead the team through 2020 and 2021. “It’s a relieving moment to be reappointed for two more years. Building on what the players and management team have achieved over the past four years is exciting and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

Corey Kennett, Chief Executive Officer of the Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Union, is delighted to have Wilton on board for a further two seasons. “Chris really is our poster boy for Coach Development. He’s coached just about every age grade team we have as well as the development team and had many successes with these teams. What Chris achieved with the team in 2017 as our highest ranked Horowhenua Kapiti Heartland team and the Lochore Cup win in 2018 was special. We’re excited to have Chris lead our Heartland team and management for the next two years.”
